Professor Geeta Nargund - Pro-Chancellor (Health Equality)

Appointed in 2025, Professor Nargund is our first Pro-Chancellor and will act as an ambassador for the University. In this role she will amplify the University’s voice across influential networks, supporting achievement of our strategic vision, particularly in respect of our ambitious plans for advancing healthcare provision for our region. 

Professor Nargund is a globally respected medical doctor, entrepreneur and advocate for women’s health and education. She is the Founder of CREATE Fertility and ABC IVF, and a Senior Consultant Gynaecologist and Lead Consultant at St George’s Hospital, London. She holds an Honorary Professorship from the University of Greater Manchester and has held a Visiting Professorship at the University of Hasselt in Belgium.

She is the Vice Chair of the British Red Cross, Executive Chair of the Pipeline, Founder and Trustee of Create Health Foundation. She has served on committees and expert groups for WHO, NHS England and European Scientific Societies. She is actively involved in research in addressing health inequalities and into making fertility care more accessible and safer for women and children.    

Alongside her clinical work, Professor Nargund is also a regular speaker at Westminster Health Seminars on Health and Social Care in the UK.

The Pro-Chancellor’s Role

The Pro-Chancellor is an honorary and unpaid role.  The purpose of the role is to help to raise the profile and prestige of the University by representing us – and our mission, aims and objectives – in the world beyond academia.
