Summary

I am a Lecturer and Researcher with a background in IT and a passion for using technology to improve lives, whether through teaching, research, or systems development. My career bridges academia and industry, with over a decade of professional experience in IT and more than six years of teaching in higher education.

My research is grounded in health informatics, with a growing emphasis on data analytics, health data science, and the application of AI in healthcare. I am particularly interested in exploring how large language models (LLMs) can address data interoperability challenges in healthcare and how AI and informatics can support individuals with autism, as well as improve decision support systems. Other research interests include primary care computing and research skills development. 

In parallel, I teach and supervise undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students across the fields of computing and information systems. As a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA), I am committed to student-centred learning that values inclusion, mentorship, and real-world application. My approach combines academic rigour with practical insights, shaped by experience in both technical and teaching roles.

Professionally, I have worked in various capacities, including database administration, IT support, service delivery, research, and programme management, with small and medium enterprises, the ºÚÁϳԹÏ, and national bodies such as the Federation for Informatics Professionals (FEDIP). These roles have strengthened my ability to deliver solutions that are cost-effective, people-focused, and grounded in integrity and excellence.
